The Swedish audio and media streaming company has acquired Podz, which makes podcast discovery easier. The company uses machine learning technology trained on over 100,000 hours of audio to automatically find key moments from each episode of a podcast episode.

The move comes in the aftermath of Spotify monetising podcasts and enabling select podcast content creators to access their content. With this acquisition deal, the Swedish audio streaming company aims to improve podcast discovery on the platform by allowing users to browse short clips rather than the 30-minute plus podcast episodes.

Spotify said the acquisition of Podz would make it “easier for listeners to find the content they want to listen to, and for creators to be discovered and build a fan base.
