It anticipates reaching 230-260 million subscribers by 2024.

According to The Information’s report, the subscriber growth rate for Disney Plus in North America has reached a standstill. By July, Disney Plus had gathered 110 million subscribers. As compared to six months ago, this is only a 1 million increase. North America accounts for 38 million of the total subscribers.

In parallel, India has emerged as the streaming service’s biggest market with over 12 million subscribers. A Disney Plus subscription costs only around 45 cents in India and $8 in the US.

On subscriber-stagnancy, a Disney spokesperson countered The Information’s analysis citing “factual inaccuracies” and noting that it “does not reflect the performance of the service.” The article notes that as it stands now, aside from a few marquee titles, the volume and quality of content on Disney Plus does not compare with Netflix or HBO Max.
