Vertebrae currently has a 50-person team.

To bolster its AR shopping enabling capabilities, Snap has bought Vertebrae for an as yet undisclosed sum. Vertebrae specialises in helping brands create and manage the 3D versions of their products. On integration, retailers can upload product visuals and other relevant information onto Vertebrae’s platform.

These images will be turned into 3D, and shoppers may be able to potentially buy these products through Snapchat. The 3D, AR company’s acquisition follows that of WaveOptics (AR wearable tech specialist) earlier this year.

Snap also counts FitAnalytics and Screenshop among its shopping-related acquisitions. The company’s moves are to make the platform suitable for shoppers to purchase in a tech-enabled manner.
