Consumers prefer SMS from local brands

Podium recent survey across the US and Australia revealed that 74% of consumers are more likely to respond to business texts from real people over automated messages.

Nearly three-quarters of consumers will exchanges text with a business if they receive a response from a real person, the study found. Further, 50% of consumers will respond to text messages from businesses if the sender introduces themselves.

21% of consumers are inclined to subscribe to local businesses' SMS marketing lists rather than major chain or big-box corporations. Of those polled, 64% of consumers prefer to receive incentives like discounts, promo codes and coupons from local businesses.

52% of customers would want to get loyalty offers, 35% would like inventory notifications, and 28% prefer invitations to future events. Also, 62% want to get text messages at least once a week, and three-quarters would unsubscribe if they received too many texts.
