The platform’s Creator Program and Sustainability Lab will include participants from 25 different nations.
To help digital newsrooms and independent journalists thrive on YouTube, the company in its recent blogpost announced the participants of its Creator Program and Sustainability Lab. While the Creator Program will allow 50 independent journalists to participate, over 40 digital-first newsrooms will partake in the Sustainability project.
Journalists participating in the Creator Program will be equipped with industry knowledge for audience development, entrepreneurship, video production, and editing. This will help them become financially stable and provide them with the required tools to create successful news videos on YouTube.
Participants of the Sustainability Lab program will receive funds and individualised support from YouTube. With the company planning to build a “sustainable video news ecosystem”, Sustainability Lab members can develop effective news videos, and learn from their peers.
