The video-sharing site has added timestamp previews and auto-translated captions for customers accessing the site through mobile.
Using "timestamp previews", viewers can now see which sub-topics are covered in a video on the YouTube app. This way, users can thoroughly evaluate a video before watching it or directly jump to the section they find the most relevant.
The update is a step-up from YouTube's earlier update for short autoplays. Along with timestamp previews, audiences can now access search results across languages as well.
According to Pablo Paniagua, director of product management, YouTube, search results from other languages will be displayed with automatically translated captions, titles and descriptions. This feature aims to bring users relevant content in case search results in the local language do not suffice.
