The reports will be released on a quarterly basis and will go on to include more international data.

Facebook has released its inaugural The Widely Viewed Content report for the US market. In line with Facebook’s changes to have posts from friends and family account for most content on a news feed, 57% of users now see those posts on their feeds.

Posts with links saw fewer than 13% of content views. Further, the report found that of all content views in a news feed, the top-viewed news domains account for only 0.31%.

Facebook’s research also revealed that the content that’s being seen the most may not necessarily be the one that’s also enjoying the most engagement. This is because the engagement a content piece sees may not be indicative of its reach or the number of people actually viewing it.
