New research project looks to understand farm shops’ impact on the British economy

A research project by the Farm Retail Association (FRA) aims at understanding farm shops, the impact they have on suppliers, communities and the UK economy at large.

The ongoing study, conducted in collaboration with Harper Adams University, intends to get a clearer view of the sector and help it develop further in the coming days.

As of now, a survey is being circulated among FRO members to gather their views. During the pandemic, several consumers chose to shop at farm shops.

Similarly, shoppers increasingly tried to stay local in recent times. With farm-shop friendly consumer behaviour as the nudge, the study also aims at findings that may help businesses with planning applications and funding bids.
