The total global subscription-video-on-demand (SVOD) subscriptions are expected to be 1.64 billion by 2026.

Disney+ is forecasted to add 140 million subscription members between 2021 and 2026, boosting its total to 284 million, according to Digital TV Research. This would enable the streaming service to surpass Netflix, which is predicted to add 53 million subscribers by 2026, bringing its total to 271 million.

In 2026, 13 Asian countries will account for 43% of Disney+ subscribers, or 121 million, under the Hotstar brand. In five years, Disney+, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video will account for nearly half of all SVOD subscriptions.

The US will reach 450 million SVOD subscriptions by 2026, as per Simon Murray, at the research firm. However, the total share of subscribers from the US and China is expected to drop to 49%.
