Metaverse can bring physical reality to the virtual world with the help of technology – people have already experienced a part of it via Facebook’s Oculus VR headsets.
With a new, real-time 3D infrastructure in the pipeline, Metaverse is being positioned as the future of the internet. Recently, social giant Facebook has committed to channel $50 million funds towards its development.
While Facebook has announced plans to create an entirely virtual world in the next five years, companies Fortnite and Roblox Corp already enjoys an early foothold in this augmented and virtual reality world. Metaverse, however, could be a gamechanger.
For instance, with the help of Metaverse, a person in San Jose can have dinner with their family in New York at the same dinner table. They will be able to see each other in front of them at the table, rather than sharing screens on platforms like Zoom or Google Meet.
Metaverse would also let people try out a dress from their favourite store, test-drive a car – all while sitting in their living room. It offers immense opportunities for marketers. This prospect has already pushed tech giants like Microsoft, Nvidia, Unity, Snap, and Roblox to create their own digital worlds.
