Microsoft Bing launched Ethical Shopping portal in the UK, allowing users to buy eco-friendly upcycled or fair-trade clothing. Consumers can search for ethical fashion brands or products, trending and featured items, using the Ethical Shopping portal.
Customers can also use the eco-friendly, upcycled, and fair-trade options to filter their search. Along with experiencing Bing’s traditional features like price drops and sales labels, users would be able to use the ratings in Bing Shopping filters while looking for fashion items. These sustainable and ethical ratings would be provided by – Good On You – an organisation that compiles and rates fashion companies based on their impact on people, animals and the environment.
Microsoft’s lead product manager, Sumit Chatterjee said, “Currently, we are looking at a horizon of at least another quarter before a significant release in the U.S.” Moreover, ecommerce giant Amazon already has a similar feature – Climate Pledge Friendly search filter, indicating that Google could soon release its own version of the ethical product search feature.
