In response to a Reddit query, Google's John Mueller confirmed that keyword density is not an SEO Google search ranking factor.

Is keyword density a searching factor – people have been asking this question for years. Recently, a Reddit user asked Google’s Search Advocate, John Mueller if keyword density is a ranking factor.

To this, Mueller responded with a simple, “no”. Keyword density refers to the percentage of times a keyword appears on a web page, compared to the total number of words on that page. This factor can be used to determine the relevance of a web page to a particular keyword or keyword phrase.
