Americans expect online storefronts, contactless payment options post-pandemic

GoDaddy’s recent survey of 2,000 American adults revealed that 76% of consumers strived to support local small businesses, since COVID-19.

The report highlights consumer shopping habits and the changes they want from local small businesses post-pandemic. Small businesses that offered curb-side pickup and provided the option for contactless payment were valued by 41% of consumers for those services.

Moreover, consumers (36%) appreciate small businesses having an online store. When it comes to post-pandemic expectations, 37% want contactless payment solutions, 37% want curb-side pickups, and an equal number want online stores.

Other consumer preferences include self-checkout (34%), virtual/digital loyalty cards (30%), mobile apps (30%), ordering ahead online (26%), and QR code menus (23%). GoDaddy’s Melissa Schneider notes, “Online payment options along with offering contactless payment options in-person are all critical to consumers today.”
