The portal, Carbravo, would enable General Motors (GM) to enter the direct-to-consumer (D2C) industry.
With a new website called Carbravo, GM aims to compete directly with used automobile sites like Carvana. GM is currently enrolling dealers to be a part of the portal, which is expected to be launched in spring 2022, as per a press release.
Consumers can browse inventories from both dealers and GM's central stock of used automobiles on Carbravo, as well as shop for non-GM vehicles. The site could compete with used car sites like Carvana, CarMax and Vroom, according to Steve Carlisle, GM's EVP and CEO of GM North America.
With brands like Tesla using the D2C model, Carbravo could help GM connect directly with consumers. Maven, a car-sharing service by GM, failed to yield fruitful results in the past.
