Its capacity to build direct customer relationships and gather knowledge about consumer behaviour and data ownership is making the D2C model more and more popular.
D2C ecommerce sales in the US alone are set to reach $151.20 billion this year, a 17% increase from sales recorded in 2021. Similarly, D2C sales are expected to grow to £120 billion in 2023 in the UK.
47% of CMOs in the UK believe that over the next 12 months, D2C channels will have greater control over how their brand is portrayed. Around 43% of CMOs also expressed their excitement about the first-party data they could access through D2C channels.
As for consumers, 57% prefer going directly to the manufacturers for better prices and better service. About 43% of consumers in the US are familiar with D2C brands, and 69% of those have made at least one D2C purchase in 2021.
