69% of global leaders think digital innovations help reach sustainability goals

NTT and ThoughtLab surveyed 500 company executives across seven industries and eight markets worldwide.

Sustainability programs are an ethical and business requirement for brands that also boosts returns and creates a positive change. According to the survey, 44% of businesses have improved profitability due to sustainability.

69% of global executives feel digital innovation is critical to attaining sustainability goals in the environmental, social, and economic areas. The technology used by leaders to attain sustainability goals includes Cloud, IoT and AI, among others. 68% say ensuring a sustainable future is a top concern for their Board of Directors.

Companies that implemented sustainability programs saw lower costs via better efficiencies (33%) and innovations and business models (32%). Top sustainability goals include health and wellbeing, education and upskilling, and clean energy at 84%, 82%, and 73% respectively among leaders.
