A Top Design Firms survey found that boosting website traffic and brand awareness are among the top priorities for small businesses this year.

The study found that creating brand awareness and generating more website traffic are top digital marketing goals for small businesses this year. Both goals were a priority for 19% of the small businesses surveyed.

Supporting revenue generation (17%), converting leads to customers (15%) and improving search rankings (14%) are other marketing goals of small business owners and managers. About 49% of small businesses are also advancing their social media marketing efforts in response to the surge in social media usage after the COVID-19 outbreak.

Around 80% of all surveyed companies have in-house marketing teams. Only 11% of the companies making over $50 million work with an external marketing agency are more likely to have an in-house marketing team.
