The company is also developing monetisation opportunities for podcasts on its platform.
As per a Podnews news piece which is based on YouTube’s podcast roadmap, YouTube is working towards centralising podcasts by developing a new homepage dedicated to podcasts. The company is currently running a pilot to pull in podcast RSS feeds.
The roadmap suggests that YouTube will feature audio ads “sold by Google as well as other partners.” For audio-first creators, new metrics are reportedly being designed. The piece also mentions YouTube data being integrated into industry-standard podcast measurement platforms.
As of now, Nielsen, Chartable and Podtrac seem to be listed as partners. With Spotify looking to dominate the podcast ad market, it is crucial for YouTube to make progress to find its place in this ad market growth.
