Gen Z gamers would like to make money, build careers in the metaverse

Vice Media Group and Razorfish surveyed 1,000 gamers across the US, tracked 12 Gen Z player’s 1 hour gaming sessions and conducted in-depth interviews.

The study revealed that over 50% of respondents feel more like themselves in the metaverse. The participants reported spending 6.6 hours meeting friends in-person whereas they spend 12.2 hours playing video games, in a week.

Making money in the metaverse is an interest of 52% of Gen Z gamers and 33% are interested in building a career there. Another 47% of those polled would like to meet new people in the metaverse.

While Gen Z does have data security concerns, they’re not as high as they are for older people. 45% of respondents noted, “I feel like my identity in a game is a truer expression of who I am.”
