People who are between 45 and 54 years old are the most likely age group to have taken a staycation

July and August are the most popular months for people to go on vacation, according to data from YouGov Profiles. But not everyone is hopping on a plane or hitting the road — some might be taking “staycations,” relaxing in and exploring their own city or town. A majority (53%) of Americans say that they have taken a “staycation” at some point, according to new data from YouGov Omnibus.

People with incomes of over $80K per year were the most likely of any group to say that they have taken a staycation, with nearly two-thirds (63%) saying they have. Only 55% of people making $40-80K, and 45% of people making less than $40K say that they have taken a staycation at some point.

Young millennials (ages 18-24) were evenly split: 41% say they have taken a staycation, while 41% say they have not. People who are between 45 and 54 years old are the most likely to have taken a staycation, with 58% reporting that they have. People between 35 and 44 were almost equally as likely as the 45-54 crowd to take a staycation — 57% said that they have.
