By more than two to one, Americans interviewed in the latest Economist/YouGov Poll would like to see marijuana treated as alcohol and tobacco: regulated, made illegal for minors — and taxed! 58% support this change, 23% do not. There is a huge age difference: those under 30 support legalized marijuana 66% to 12%, those 65 and older are divided: 41% in favor, 40% opposed. In the 30-64 age group (which still contains the vast majority of baby boomers), there is 59% to 23% support.

There are party differences, too. But even Republicans are closely divided. 41% of Republicans support regulating marijuana. 40% do not.
