Chen And China: Uncertainty All Around

(Week of 5/5/2012) Over 70% of Americans in the latest Economist/YouGov Poll claim to have heard of the dispute about Chen Guangcheng, the Chinese lawyer and activist who fled house arrest to seek asylum in the U.S. embassy in China and has since been told he could come to the U.S. with his family to study. But there were several days of uncertainty over his future.

Among those Americans aware of the debate about Chen, an equal percentage believe that U.S. officials did enough for Chen and his family as believe that U.S. officials did not. But an even larger percentage of Americans aren’t sure.
