(Week of 5/19/2012) Throughout the Republican primary season, Mitt Romney suffered from two serious perception problems with his fellow Republicans — the view that he was not a conservative, and the view that his expressed beliefs were insincere. But according to the latest Economist/YouGov Poll, Republicans may be changing their perceptions of Romney on these matters, though there is still a long way to go.

Nearly half of Republicans now say that Romney says what he believes (though 35% disagree). And more Republicans now describe Romney as conservative than describe him as a moderate.

Romney continues to have problems with the entire electorate. Registered voters are more likely to have a favorable view of the President than of Romney.
