(Week of 6/30/2012) Americans continue to have a slightly more favorable opinion of incumbent President Barack Obama than likely Republican challenger Mitt Romney in the most recent Economist/YouGov poll (Week of June 30, 2012). Overall, 50% have a favorable opinion of Obama to 44% unfavorable, For Romney, it is 41%-49%.
That very narrow Obama advantage is true among the oldest and those in the middle age ranges…a slight and surmountable lead for the President.
Among the youngest voters, however, the gap is enormous. OMG. Among those age 18-29, Obama’s ratings are 59%-30%, while Romney’s are 31%-56%. Obama is about 2-to-1 favorable in the eyes of the young, Romney is not far from 2-to-1 negative.
