The experienced Director is responsible for identifying key contacts within potential brands and advertising agencies, gaining access to those executives to present the BrandIndex service, demonstrating the value proposition and closing the meeting with positive results.

Research Analyst

YouGov is seeking an energetic person with strong organizational and analytic skills for the position of Research Analyst. At YouGov, a Research Analyst is principally responsible for interpreting data, creating reports, and making recommendations based upon research findings. The Research Analyst applies qualitative and quantitative techniques to interpret data and produce substantiated recommendations. Research Analysts will occasionally conduct qualitative interviews to collect additional insight.

Responsibilities:

-Communicating with project managers and clients to understand and document the business objectives

-Assisting in the development and programming of survey questionnaires and testing questionnaires to ensure the necessary data is captured

-Conducting in-depth data analyses using traditional and advanced methods

-Making PowerPoint presentations that effectively communicate key research findings

Research Manager, Omnibus

Overall Objective

This is a key role in a busy Omnibus and Field & Tab research team. You will be working closely with clients, developing and managing accounts and running complex projects. As well as research, you will be expected to proactively work on business development, as well as contributing ideas to and leading on the team’s product innovations. You will need to be commercially aware, excellent at communicating (understanding clients’ needs is key), have excellent English language and research skills, and be able to take a wider perspective ensuring you help seize commercial opportunities for YouGov as a whole. You will also be expected to take a lead on managing the team’s workloads whilst helping junior researchers to progress through appropriate delegation and provision of training.

The Omnibus Team

This is no ordinary Omnibus department. The Omnibus Team at YouGov has the most diverse product range of any Omnibus operation anywhere in the world. Aside from what you’d expect us to do, the team also:

  • Conducts research in over 60 markets around the globe
  • Works with multiple clients each year across virtually all sectors
  • Has a truly diverse range of products, including B2B Omnibus, targeted sample fast-turnaround services (Field & Tab) and cities research (to name just some of what we do)
  • Is an active member of the YouGov “family”, working in partnership on cross-team projects, including the YouGov Profiles Team, which we believe has the world’s most innovative and powerful media planning and profiling tool

 Key Responsibilities

 Sample design

-Understanding of sampling techniques with the ability to design/ advise on sampling frames for fast-turnaround projects which fulfill the project’s (and ultimately the client’s) objectives

-Understanding of the advantages and drawbacks of major methods (e.g. CAPI, CAWI etc.) to enable the best research design solution for all YouGov clients

  • Questionnaire design and management

-Working independently to design complex questionnaires that meet the clients’ objectives, and manage and mentor other team members to become excellent at this

-Working with research suppliers when needed and ensure the work meets and is consistent with YouGov standards

-Harnessing a wide range of commercial, cultural and topical issues in designing research

  • Data Analysis

-Adept at using statistical principles (including sampling and weighting) to accurately report survey data

-Constructively challenging clients’ interpretations when necessary, recommending accurate and client-focused solutions which ultimately enhance the client-YouGov relationship

-Assisting junior team members with projects where they are having difficulty reaching a solution with their client

-In-depth understanding of research methods, sampling and analytics. Advise clients on appropriate research methods. Ability to access, analyze and use YouGov’s connected data (from its vast and detailed panel).

  • Presentation and report writing

-Accurately reporting/ discussing findings from data (e.g. written reports, presentations, discussions etc.)

-Creating and delivering external and internal presentations

  • Proposal writing and YouGov strategy

-Dealing with speculative enquiries and to interpret requirements of a research specification

-Writing effective proposals which harness the power of YouGov’s panel and win business

-Understanding the connected nature of YouGov’s data and, where possible, to harness this data to provide innovative and commercially effective solutions for clients

-Awareness of company strategy and how this translates to the delivery of research

  • Project management

-Coordinating and managing different project tasks for multiple projects

-Designing timetables, monitoring progress and suggesting/implementing solutions if timetabling problems arise

-Delegating appropriate tasks to more junior staff and supervising the execution of these tasks

  • Client liaison and commercial

-Liaising effectively with clients as the main contact for all aspects of more complex projects

-Helping a range of clients meet their business/research objectives by leading the delivery and project management of high quality research.  

-Attending sales meetings where needed, updating and engaging with the CRM system and creating business opportunities for the sales team in YouGov UK (e.g. to seeking out and providing new contacts and opportunities to the sales area)

  • Staff management and cross-team working

-Line managing up to 3 staff, managing their career and growth as a market researcher

-Communicating effectively/collaborating with other YouGov Teams. Negotiating effectively and resolve any problems as they arise

  • Presenting internally; presentation of YouGov Omnibus proposition, processes and cross-team commercial opportunities to colleagues.
  • Project costing and financial management

-Costing and managing projects in order to ensure project profitability, and to devise processes and solutions to enhance the accuracy of costing projects to ensure future commercial success

Experience

Preferred:

  • Experience as a Research Manager working on multiple fast-turnaround projects
  • Line management experience
  • Experience of devising or leading on business areas (e.g. research products, quality initiatives etc.)
  • Experience of designing and running both online and offline research projects (e.g. CATI, CAPI, CAWI etc.) – including sampling, questionnaire set up, delivery and analysis

Public Relations Intern (temporary - three months/paid) 

YouGov has a unique three month internship opportunity for somebody interested in media, public relations and data.

The Position:

The Public Relations intern reports to the PR Manager, supporting the efforts of the Editorial and Campaigns arms of YouGov. The PR intern will be responsible for a daily PR report that is distributed company-wide, tracking and measuring press coverage, and will have the opportunity to pitch articles to the press.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist with administrative work

Manage press lists

Produce the Daily PR newsletter

Track and measure press hits across all mediums (radio, TV, social and editorial)

Provide additional support to the YouGov Editorial and Campaigns teams as needed

Gain experience pitching select articles for placement

Qualifications:

BS (or studying towards a degree) in Public Relations, Communications, or related media field preferred

Passion for understanding how media works and engaging with the press

Familiar with Meltwater, Gorkana or other media tracking/planning systems

Senior Vice President of Marketing Research 

Minimum 10+ years of experience conducting and leading custom, primary market research projects, with at least 8 years’ experience on the vendor side.

Looking for a candidate with proven skills in:

  • Team leadership and managing diverse functions to lead to successful client solutions
  • Detail oriented and focus on accuracy at all costs in research studies
  • Ability to go beyond just the study results/data, and identify the higher level implications and recommendations about the brand or client
  • Comfortable and proficient in interacting with and explaining results to clients

 Proficient in selling research services and conducting business development to generate revenue, for both new and existing YouGov clients. This position includes an annual revenue goal, which in turn drives a variable compensation component.

-This person will be tasked with implementing and growing an existing and successful YouGov tracker model via new clients and within existing client divisions.   Therefore, specific knowledge of and history with brand and/or advertising tracking studies is essential.  

-Also expected to have diverse knowledge and proven mastery of a variety of quantitative research techniques to address client business needs and contexts including brand and advertising evaluation and tracking, concept and positioning testing, segmentation, branding and portfolio optimization, market opportunity assessment/sizing, satisfaction and loyalty drivers, etc.

-As above, expected to have significant client level interaction and the ability to manage and supervise other researchers and operational functions on projects.  This will cover aspects of a project from proposal writing and pricing to final report and delivery, including presentation of findings, insights and client-/industry-specific recommendations.

-Demonstrated ability to develop Power-Point based decks intended to tell a story through data visualizations and infographics with concise, business insights-focused approach and writing style.
