As the vaccine rollout continues, some states including New York, Arizona, and Alabama have established 24/7 vaccination sites in hopes to get as many people vaccinated as possible. Other states may soon follow suit, but are Americans willing to come to vaccination appointments outside of standard business hours?

For many, the answer is yes. Among US adults who would be willing to get the COVID-19 vaccine, 18% would be willing to get their shot overnight between the hours of midnight and 3 a.m. A similar percentage (17%) would be willing to get the vaccine in the very early hours of the morning, between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.

More than 40% would be willing to get their vaccinations during daytime hours. Just over one-third (36%) would get it in the evening between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. About a quarter (23%) would be willing to take a late-night appointment between 9 p.m. and midnight.

YouGov’s data suggests that men are more willing than women to get the vaccine at odd hours.

Among those willing to get the vaccine, men (21%) are more willing than women (14%) to get the vaccine between midnight and 3 a.m., or between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. (20% of men vs. 14% of women). Men (25%) are also a little more likely than women (21%) to say they would take a vaccine appointment between the hours of 9 p.m. and midnight.

Methodology: 19,177 US adults were asked “For the following question, please imagine appointments for Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines were offered in your area 24 hours a day. Which, if any, of the following times of day would you be willing to attend an appointment to get your vaccination? Please select all that apply.” with response options spanning a full 24 hours, as well as options for “don’t know” and “N/A - I would not want to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.” The sample has been rebased to only include adults who would want to receive the vaccine. The rebased sample of US adults who would want to get a COVID-19 vaccine is 15,065. The survey was conducted between January 15 – 21, 2021. The responding sample is weighted to be representative of the US population.
