The Economist and YouGov have surveyed Americans for years about a wide range of topics. Here you can find charts with tracking data on a host of issues:

Methodology: For each Economist / YouGov Poll, respondents were selected from YouGov’s opt-in panel to be representative of adult U.S. citizens. The sample was weighted according to gender, age, race, education, U.S. region, presidential turnout and vote, baseline party identification, and voter registration status. Baseline party identification is the respondent’s most recent answer given prior to a fixed date, and is weighted to the estimated distribution on that date. The margin of error for the overall sample usually is approximately 3%-3.5%.
