President Trump has recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. YouGov Omnibus asked Americans, “How knowledgeable do you think you are about the situation in the Middle East?” Overall, 19% say they're very knowledgeable, 13% say they’re not knowledgeable at all, and most fall somewhere in between.

Gender was a divisive factor in opinions–twice as many men (26%) than women (13%) consider themselves very knowledgeable. Another 16% of women said they don’t consider themselves knowledgeable at all, while 9% of men said the same.

Income was also a factor separating opinions. Nearly twice as many people making at least $80k (29%) said they’re very knowledgeable as those making under $40k (15%). Three times as many (18%) of those making under $40k said they’re not knowledgeable at all as affluent respondents (6%).
