Vaccines and Autism

Americans do not accept the argument that vaccinations can cause autism: only 9% say that is probable. Only 18% more think that is even possible. And many in the most recent Economist/YouGov Poll see no legitimate reason --- except a medical one -- to not vaccinate children.

60% of Americans would allow a medical condition to exempt a child from a vaccination. About one in four would allow it if there were concerns for side effects or religious beliefs against vaccination. But only 16% say parents have the right to refuse vaccination for their children without providing any reason.
