Minecraft surpassed Fortnite as the most-searched game on YouTube by August.

YouTube unveiled the viewership stats for some of 2019’s biggest games, of which “Minecraft” ranked the highest with 100.2 billion views. Other games include “Fortnite”, “Roblox” and “Grand Theft Auto” with 60.9 billion, 29.6 billion and about 40 billion views, respectively.

The article says that Minecraft has always been prominent on YouTube, specifically because the game has tutorial videos which guide players on building elaborate structures, along with its long-running narrative series within the game. Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg is the most watched YouTube creator in 2019, attracting over 570 million views in July due to Minecraft.

Fortnite is expected to be the most talked-about game within and outside the gaming world. However, on YouTube, Minecraft has and will continue to “reign”, the article suggests.
