Nearly 30% of the world’s population interacts with a Facebook app every day.
WhatsApp has recently announced that it has attained two billion monthly active users around the world. This piece states that this number is significant, considering 40% of the world’s population cannot access the internet and 26% of the people are under the age of 15.
Despite expanding the WhatsApp business use remains a challenge, Facebook is looking to introduce shopping features on the messaging app for monetization. This piece also states that facilitating funds transfer on WhatsApp through Facebook’s Libra cryptocurrency or WhatsApp Pay could be the best way to monetize the app.
While Facebook is “re-thinking” its traditional monetization ways, it doesn’t want to compromise on its privacy policies. WhatsApp announced that the company will work with top security experts and employ leading technologies to enhance privacy.
