Facebook surveyed users across the UK, US, Germany and South Korea.
The Games Marketing Insights report shares highlights of the gameplay and mobile gamers’ spending habits before and after the pandemic broke. The report saw Facebook Gaming usage go beyond 1 billion viewing hours, for the first time, in Q3 2020.
With Facebook Gaming recording around 500 million watch hours in Q4 2019, it is evident people started spending more time on the platform since the beginning of the pandemic. The mobile gaming audience in the UK has grown by 50% and 28% in the US since March 2020.
The study further found new mobile gamers were also more open to spending money on mobile games than existing players. Facebook’s VP of global gaming, Rick Kelley says, “…the unpredictable nature of 2020 led to a significant increase in gaming audience and player engagement”.
