Pew Research Centre surveyed 1,502 US adults between 25 January and 8 February 2021.
According to the Pew Research Centre’s 2021 study of Americans’ social media usage, YouTube with 81% was ranked the most used social media platform. It was at 73% in 2019. Facebook is used by 69% of Americans, followed by Instagram (40%) and Pinterest (31%).
LinkedIn, Snapchat, Twitter, and WhatsApp at 28%, 25%, 23% and 23% respectively were the other most used social media platforms. However, 21% of Americans reported using TikTok, well ahead of Reddit which is used by 18% of Americans.
Moreover, 72% of Americans use any kind of social media site, despite controversies, and negative sentiments around social media. Facebook is the most popular social media site with 49% of people using it several times a day, followed by Snapchat (45%), Instagram (38%) and YouTube (36%).
