'Neighborhoods' is already available across the border in Canada.

Facebook's Nextdoor copycat product Neighborhoods is expanding and will soon be available in four American cities. Neighborhoods will be launched in the four cities of Charlotte, San Diego, Baton Rouge and Newark.

Similar to Nextdoor, Facebook's mini social networking platform – Neighborhoods – will enable users to get to know their neighbours, seek recommendations for coffee shops and locksmiths or organise local events. It will also allow users to create splinter groups based on their interests. Neighborhoods will only allow users aged 18 and above to join these interest-specific groups.

However, Facebook has not gone into details on how they would tackle divisive political arguments or racism within these groups. Facebook's Product Manager, Reid Patton said that each group would have moderators to "make sure people are staying within the guidelines and being kind".
