Spotify rolls out Clubhouse rival

Like Clubhouse, Spotify’s Greenroom lets users host live conversations about music, sports, and culture.

With Spotify launching Greenroom on both iOS and Android, Clubhouse now has a new major competitor. Instead of coming up with a “marquee creator announcement” or any planned event, Greenroom is encouraging people to sign up and find out how they want to use the app.

Greenroom is based on Locker Room – which was acquired by Spotify earlier this year. The app has been painted in the Spotify green-and-black colour scheme. In terms of functionality, the app allows recording, enabling users to save their shows and distribute them as podcasts.

Users can access the new live audio platform with users’ Spotify login. The audio streaming platform has also announced a creator fund to lure creators to the app. But, the details remain under wraps.
