The app plans to extend its shopping features, following the surge in ecommerce amid COVID-19.
Instagram's CEO, Adam Mosseri, recently released a video on social media in which he highlighted the company's future expansion plans. As the market shifts from institutions to a creator-based economy, Instagram will now focus on helping creators earn a living with new monetisation options.
In addition, the social media app will prioritise video, as the company intends to keep its users entertained by focusing on full screen, immersive, entertaining, mobile-first video experiences. Users will also see content in their feeds from accounts they don't follow, as Instagram experiments with recommendations.
Messaging will be a priority for Instagram, as it is the primary method through which people communicate with their close friends on the platform. For the forthcoming changes, the company will be more transparent in its communications.
