New York, North Carolina and Utah are among the states that have sued for "anticompetitive tactics" the Google Play Store.
Thirty-six states of the United States, including Tennessee, filed legal complaints against Google for abusing its dominant position through Play Store policies. The petition - filed the complaint in the federal court in San Francisco - alleges that Google's 30% commission fee on app purchases is too high.
The complaint explains that every time a user purchases an app, digital content or subscriptions from the Google Play Store, up to 30% of the money goes to Google. The tech giant responded through a blog post claiming its system provides "more openness and choice than others".
The lawsuit comes few days after the federal court ordered an antitrust lawsuit against Facebook. Last year, the Department of justice and 12 states filed a complaint against Google for having a monopoly over search.
