According to the latest Advertising Association and Warc expenditure report, advertising spending in the UK is expected to reach around £27.7 billion this year.
With a growth of 18.2% in 2021, advertising spending in the UK is anticipated to recover the £1.8 billion decline in 2020. Advertising spending is expected to continue growing in 2022 with a 7.7% rise.
These growth figures indicate the UK is on course to achieve the fastest recovery in the advertising trade among all European markets this year. This year’s growth would be the largest on record, surpassing a previous high of 15.9% in 1988.
Cinema and out-of-home – media most adversely affected by the pandemic - are expected to see the strongest rebounds. Advertising Association’s chief executive Stephen Woodford said, “These are hugely encouraging figures for the UK advertising industry and reflect the strong outlook in the wider economy.”
