Student events in the UK will get bigger this year, as everyone is looking to put the pandemic behind them.

A study by RedBus Media, a digital out-of-home (DOOH) media owner, found that most students (63%) are looking forward to more socialisation. This number, combined with enthusiastic event organisers (80% of student unions plan on holding bigger or pre-COVID sized events), offers an excellent opportunity to marketers looking to target this key demographic.

Around 87% of students also plan to get vaccinated ahead of the academic year’s start in September. This favourable sentiment is a 17% positive shift in student sentiment about vaccines from August last year. Campus footfall is also expected to increase, and students are expected to be more open to new products, services, and experiences.

Jack Skeffington – sales & partnerships coordinator, King’s College London Students’ Union, said: “We are encouraged by this research …and the opportunity we present for marketers looking to reach a Gen Z audience.”
