Hornetsecurity Group’s recent survey of over 420 businesses using the Microsoft 365 platform revealed that 50% of them use third-party solutions for email protection.
23% of businesses polled said that they faced an email-related security breach. Compromised user-passwords and phishing attacks accounted for 62% of all security breaches, while 36% of breaches were accounted to phishing attacks.
Those companies with 201 to over 1,000 employees reported 74% of all security breaches. Factors such as budgets and recruitment priorities, while disregarding digital security concerns, are likely determinants of security breaches in large organisations. 33% of companies haven’t installed Multi-Factor Authentication across all users.
54% are yet to implement Conditional Access rules and Multi-Factor Authentication. Businesses (68%) expect Microsoft 365 to protect them from email threats and security breaches. 82% of organisations using third-party email security solutions, didn’t face any security issues.
