London-based M&A advisory firm Ciesco recorded 832 M&A transactions in the first six months of 2021, a 46% YoY surge.

Studies show the market confidence is returning to a pre-pandemic level as the world unlocks from COVID-19 restrictions. Ciesco recorded a surge of 46% year-on-year in M&A transactions. A separate HIS Markit study found the global economy has already surpassed its pre-pandemic peak.

Additionally, the global economy is expected to see nearly 6% growth this year, the most significant expansion in almost 80 years. With the ample availability of investment capital, Private Equity (PE) firms are the leading investor.

Interestingly, print media publishers emerged as critical areas for investors. The traditional media sector saw 101 deals in 2021 H1, a 35% increase from the same period in 2020. Similarly, digital media witnessed the most significant number of deals (171) in 2020 H1.
