Small firms fear reclosures, would prefer hiring fully vaccinated candidates

Alignable’s survey of 5,262 businesses revealed that 34% are “highly concerned” about the Delta variant impacting recovery.

47% of small business owners dread reclosures as a result of the COVID-19 Delta variant, up from 24% in June, according to the report. Moreover, 60% of businesses are concerned about recovery, seeing the Delta variant as a hindrance to their efforts.

Also, 63% believe that the small business economy as a whole has been put in jeopardy due to the Delta variant. Despite the prospect of reclosures, 74% of enterprises are now fully operative.

11% of business owners aren’t worried about the impact of the Delta variant on the small business economy. When asked about hiring decisions, 71% of business owners would ask potential candidates about their vaccine status, and 29% said it isn’t appropriate. 61% of businesses are more likely to hire fully vaccinated candidates.
