Leverage Google’s Content Removal Tool if a site owner refuses to remove old content.

To weed out outdated content from web pages, brands could use Google’s Content Removal Tool. Available via Google Search Console, the tool helps get rid of dated content like business information, location or contact information, discontinued products, images, from sites not owned by the company.

To delete old content, go to the Content Removal Tool and click "New Request," then input the URL from where the content should be extracted and click "New Request" again. Next, type in a word from the cached version of the site to verify the right page and select the “Request Removal” option.

The entire process from confirmation to the approval of the request can take up to 24 hours. Monitor, remove and trace old brand content using the Content Audit Tool.
