Sophie Brannon – an SEO manager – conducted a poll on Twitter asking SEO professionals about their opinion regarding duplicate content issues.

The Twitter poll asked, “what do you do with your content duplication issues?” Around 1,000 SEO professionals responded to this survey question, which is relatively high for a Twitter poll. Surprisingly, the survey found that most SEO professionals canonicalise their duplicate content issues.

Around 57.5% of respondents said they use “canonicalisation” to deal with content duplication issues. While rewriting everything was the option chosen by about 18.4% of respondents, 11.8% said they “NoIndex” the pages, and 12.3% said “other”.
