The new offering is a departure from traditional racing games or arcade-style gaming options.

Facebook will host fantasy games and sports on its platform allowing users to earn points for correctly guessing game winners and points scored by the players. Titled “Facebook Fantasy Games”, the feature will roll out for iOS and Android users first in the US and Canada.

Users can play alongside friends, compare scores, share reactions and post comments. The first game made available is Pick and Play Sports. In the coming months, users will be able to to forecast outcomes of shows like “The Bachelorette" and "Survivor”.

These launches helps Facebook compete with players like FanDuel and DraftKings. The company had earlier introduced a Gaming tab for users on its platform. Similarly, Facebook has also collaborated with Oculus to create a virtual reality “metaverse”.
