Once approved by regulators, the new SVOD service will be launched in 2022.

Comcast Corporation and ViacomCBS in an equal joint venture are launching SkyShowtime a new direct-to-consumer SVOD streaming service to cover 20 European markets. The SVOD streaming service will offer content from NBCUniversal, Sky, and the ViacomCBS portfolio of brands.

The 20 markets include Norway, Poland, Spain, Serbia, Sweden, and Czech Republic among others. SkyShowtime will offer over 10,000 hours of entertainment with titles from SHOWTIME, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures, Paramount+ Originals and more.

However, SkyShowtime will not be served in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, where Viacom in collaboration with Sky is introducing Paramount+. Dana Strong, group chief executive at Sky, says, “This partnership provides an innovative approach to quickly scale internationally and monetise content across Europe.”
