Google’s John Mueller said that in general, altering website theme could impact its search rankings. But, it mainly depends on what is being changed on the website when a theme is altered. He further explained that a good theme could make it easier for search engines to understand the website and its content.
According to Mueller, the theme of the website could impact the display of the content, including headings, text and images. Other factors that could impact by the website theme are internal linking and site navigation, page load time and speed, content options and structured data use.
