Based on this collaboration, the new Pixel phone will put the Snapchat camera directly onto the lockscreen for fast and easy access.
At the Pixel Fall Launch event, Snap Inc. announced a new feature on Google Pixel 6 – “Quick Tap to Snap” – launching later this year. This is for the first time Snap created a camera-mode version of Snapchat accessible directly from a phone’s lockscreen. This feature will make the Pixel 6 the fastest phone to make a Snap.
Based on this update, users would be able to capture moments quickly with a simple and speedy gesture – by tapping the back of the phone. After a Snap is ready to share, Snapchat users can authenticate on their device to unlock the full app experience. In the coming months, Snap and Google will also launch exclusive augmented reality Lenses, and some of Google’s key Pixel Features, like live transition, on Pixel 6.
This upcoming feature would further enable Snapchatters to talk to their friends in more than ten languages, with conversations translated in real-time. Snap Inc. SVP of Content and Partnerships, Ben Schwerin said, “Billions of Snaps are created every day, and through device partnerships like these, Snap is making it easier than ever for our community to Snap moments as they happen.”
