22% of American shoppers plan to spend more this holiday season

Bazaarvoice’s survey of 8,500 consumers revealed that 49% expect their holiday plans to be similar to pre-COVID times.

As the holidays approach, 42% of customers are more eager about the holidays this year than they were in 2020, while 48% feel the same. Christmas will be celebrated by 95% of survey respondents, followed by Thanksgiving (92%), New Year's Eve (85%), and more.

27% will host a holiday gathering. When it comes to shopping, 49% say COVID-19 will have no impact on their holiday plans. On Black Friday, 74% of people plan to purchase online, while 27% plan to shop in-stores.

In addition, 26% have plans of travelling for holidays and 48% reported no such plans. Out of those that will travel, 62% will drive. Also, 61% will spend the same as last year on holidays, and 22% will increase spending.
