Consumers believe companies should pay for the right to use their data: Study

Eyeo and Opera conducted a survey of 2,500 global internet users about their attitudes towards the browsing experience.

Around 69% of consumers are happy to see some ads for access to free news. 63% of global internet users prefer to play free with ads over paid games without ads. But, 84% of consumers also said they believe companies should pay them to earn rights to use their personal information.

Nearly half (48%) of consumers said they are annoyed when the same ad follows them across the internet. 39% of global internet users say “cookie requests are irritating”. Additionally, only 35% of global internet users accept cookie requests as part of browsing.
